The chairman of the board of the community governance Siv Relander, who also is responsible in the project Baltic Wings in Kökar, visited Skinnars. She tells that Kökar is with the EU project Baltic Wings which strives to increase nature tourism all year around. We are now planning and building and by 2021 we will have platforms, bird towers, and a nature house ready. The latter will boast access to handicapped people and parking places close by.
As the project proceeds, information of the travel routes of birds and their nesting habits is collected. Later on the material will be presented among others in the nature house of Kökar. Accommodation and educated guides will be available to those interested.
We are transforming Kökar to make its natural beauty more approachable to the public: more platforms are being built and a few more marked paths to guide everyone interested in nature. There is birds in Kökar all year around!
